Stress Management Happy moms enjoy easier pregnancies and make happy, healthy babies, so managing stress is of utmost importance during pregnancy. While it is such an exciting time, getting ready to welcome a new family member can also be stressful. Acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and massage excel at soothing the nervous system to transform anxiety, lift depression, and melt away tension. Treatments can also aid in letting go of old patterns and stresses that you don’t want to carry into motherhood. |

Morning Sickness Acupuncture helps many women get immediate relief from morning sickness. In 1997, the NIH (National Institute of Health) reviewed all the available studies and found that acupuncture is effective and safe for nausea during pregnancy. Treatment with Chinese Medicine for nausea and vomiting is 2-3 times per week for uncomplicated cases, daily for more severe cases. Herbs, homeopathy, and nutritional counseling are recommended when appropriate. Aches and Pain Postural and hormonal changes during pregnancy can creates aches and pains throughout the body- low back pain, sciatica, neck tension, wrist pain/carpal tunnel syndrome. Acupuncture provides a safe and effective solution to ease the discomforts that may arise as your body makes room for your baby. Relief may be experiences in as little as 3-4 sessions depending on the needs of your body. |

Labor Preparation Series / Labor Induction Beginning at 36 weeks acupuncture is administered once a week as a safe and effective treatment to encourage natural labor. Studies show that gently needling specific points on the body can help to reduce the length of labor, prevent overdue births, and accelerate cervical ripening and dilation. The protocol calls for acupuncture once a week from week 36 through the 40th week. Then, if you pass your due date, sessions increase to twice a week until you go into labor. Acupuncture is a gentle but effective alternative to invasive labor induction methods such as eversion and pitocin. Breech Presentation At our clinic we have had a 90% success rate in turning breech positioned babies. Chinese Medicine has been used since ancient times for breech, and a large study published in JAMA (Journal of The American Medical Association) has validated this effective treatment. A point on the small toe (known for its effect on the fetus) is stimulated with moxibustion- an herb called Mugwort burned over this acu-point. The technique is safe, simple, non-invasive, painless, and even relaxing. Treatment for breech is ideally done between 34 and 38 weeks. Moxa is applied daily until baby turns. |

Some say this treatment will separate the karmic entangling of mother and child. Best results are experienced when the mother has both sessions, but benefits can occur from one session as well. |
